DESCRIPTION

Organic pea ‘Progress No. 9’ is a well-known early American heirloom variety valued for its sweet, tender peas and dependable yields. Plants grow up to 60 cm tall and produce dark green pods around 11 cm long, filled with delicious peas. While excellent fresh, this variety is especially well suited for freezing and canning.

‘Progress No. 9’ grows best in moisture-retaining loam or clay soils enriched with organic matter. Sow seeds directly outdoors in early spring, as peas do not tolerate transplanting. Keep soil evenly moist, particularly during flowering and pod formation. Light support is recommended to keep plants upright and healthy. This variety performs reliably in cool climates and shorter growing seasons.
