Chinese Cabbage Scarvita - Rare Purple Variety, organic seeds
A beautiful Chinese cabbage with a striking pink-red heart that adds special colour to both the garden and the plate. Scarvita F1 forms compact, well-closed heads and is excellent fresh in salads, quickly stir-fried, or lightly grilled.Scarvita F1 is an eye-catching Chinese cabbage variety with green-red outer leaves and a deep red to rosy interior. This variety is ideal for fresh salads, but it also tolerates short cooking well. Its colour holds nicely in food, making it suitable for stir-fries and even grilling. Scarvita F1 produces medium-sized heads, usually around 1.2–1.5 kg, and can be harvested approximately 65–75 days after sowing or transplanting, depending on growing conditions and weather.
Scarvita F1 is especially well suited for late summer and autumn harvests. Earlier sowing is not recommended, as Chinese cabbage can bolt before forming a head if sown too early or under unsuitable conditions. This variety is also known for its good tolerance to bolting.
Growing information
Sow indoors in June–July or direct sow outdoors from June until early August. Scarvita F1 grows best in fertile, loose, and well-drained soil. Keep the soil evenly moist, especially during dry periods. A sunny to partially shaded location is ideal.
The recommended sowing depth is around 1 cm. Plant spacing should be about 30 cm, with around 40 cm between rows. Young plants benefit from protection against pests with insect netting or fleece. Harvest from August to October by cutting the head close to ground level.
