PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Golden Bantam is a historic heirloom sweet corn variety introduced around 1902 and still treasured for its rich, deep sweetness and dependable performance. Unlike many modern hybrids, it thrives in cooler conditions and produces robust plants reaching around 150 cm tall. Each plant typically bears one to two well-filled cobs with exceptional flavour that has kept this variety popular for over a century.

Grow sweet corn in a sunny, sheltered location with well-drained, humus-rich soil that retains moisture. For the earliest harvest, sow under cover in early spring in pots, then harden off before planting out. Alternatively, sow directly outdoors in late spring. Always plant sweet corn in blocks rather than single rows to ensure good pollination. Keep soil evenly moist, especially during flowering, and mulch around the base to retain moisture. Harvest when silks turn dark brown and kernels release a milky liquid when pressed.
