DESCRIPTION
Sweetcorn ‘Damaun’ is an early, extra sweet variety producing well-filled cobs with excellent flavour. The cobs are slightly smaller than later-season varieties but mature reliably, making this a good choice for cooler European climates and shorter growing seasons.
For the earliest harvest, sow under cover in early spring into 7–8 cm pots, sowing seeds about 2–3 cm deep at a minimum temperature of 10 °C. Harden off before planting out. Alternatively, sow directly outdoors in late spring once soil has warmed. Plant sweetcorn in blocks rather than single rows to ensure good pollination, spacing plants about 45 cm apart with the same distance between rows. Grow in well-drained, humus-rich soil and keep evenly moist, especially during flowering. Mulch exposed roots to retain moisture. Harvest when silks turn dark brown and a creamy liquid is released when kernels are pressed.
