Leek 'Blauwgroene Herfst' is strong and does not suffer wear and tear in the late autumn/winter. It can withstand frost well. Leek requires a nutritious and deeply loosened soil.

Plant when the leek plants are as thick as a pencil. For obtaining long, straight, white stems, you should earth up the leek a couple of times. To prevent infestation by larvae’s of the union fly, it is recommended to cover up both the sowing as planting bed with an insect screen. It is recommended to put the leek close to each other during winter and to cover up the crops during heavy frost.
