An attractive herb with lavender blue flowers, hardy perennial. Grows all summer. Member of the mint family.  Spreads well. Grows to 24” with. Bees, butterflies and beneficial insects love it as well.

Sowing and Growing Instructions:

  • Sowing time: Indoors in March–April, or direct sow outdoors in May.

  • Stratification (optional): Soaking or cold stratifying seeds (1–2 weeks in the fridge) improves germination.

  • Depth: Sow at 0.3–0.5 cm. Needs light – don’t bury seeds deeply.

  • Temperature: Germinates at 18–22 °C. Takes 7–14 days.

  • Spacing: 30–40 cm between plants.

  • Sunlight: Prefers full sun.

  • Soil: Well-draining, sandy or loamy soil. Drought-tolerant once established.

  • Blooming time: June to September.

  • Perennial: Cold-hardy perennial. Cut back in late autumn or early spring.

  • Care: Minimal care needed. Trim after flowering to encourage new growth.

  • For cats: Famous for inducing a euphoric response in about 70% of cats due to nepetalactone in leaves and flowers.
