Sow outdoors after all danger of frost.  Plant outside from early-spring through mid-summer. 

For earlier crops, tart seeds indoors and set plant outside after all danger of frost.  Cover seed with 1/16 to 1/8 inch fine soil. Keep soil moist during germination. 
Harvest leaves to encourage new growth.  Basil can be planted near tomatoes and peppers to enhance their growth.
