Annual 50-60 cm flowers. Flowers are 15 cm in diameter, bloom from July to October. Grow well in sunny warm areas protected from the wind, in fertile soil. Additionally fertilised with dissolved mineral fertiliser. For planters, flower gardens, bouquets. Planted in the centre of the flower bed or as a background plant in annual flower plantations.
  1. Choose the right location: Sunflowers need a lot of sun, so choose a location that receives at least six hours of direct sunlight per day. They also need well-draining soil with a pH of 6.0 to 7.5.

  2. Prepare the soil: Loosen the soil to a depth of 12 inches and mix in some compost or aged manure to improve soil fertility and drainage.

  3. Plant the seeds: Sow the seeds directly into the soil in the spring after the last frost date, or start them indoors 2-4 weeks before the last frost date. Plant the seeds 1 inch deep and 6 inches apart, or follow the specific instructions on the seed packet.

  4. Water the seeds: Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged while the seeds germinate. Once the plants are established, water deeply once a week or more frequently during hot, dry weather.

  5. Fertilize the plants: Sunflowers are heavy feeders and benefit from regular fertilization. Apply a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks or use a slow-release fertilizer at the beginning of the growing season.

  6. Provide support: Tall sunflowers may need support to prevent them from bending or breaking in the wind. You can use stakes, trellises, or cages to support the plants.

  7. Watch for pests and diseases: Sunflowers can be susceptible to aphids, caterpillars, and fungal diseases. Monitor the plants regularly and take action if you notice any problems.

  8. Harvest the seeds: Wait until the back of the sunflower head turns yellow or brown and the seeds are plump and firm. Cut the head off the plant and hang it upside down in a dry, well-ventilated place until the seeds are fully dry. Then, remove the seeds from the head and store them in an airtight container.
